Abstracts are invited for oral and poster
presentations. If you wish to submit an abstract
for consideration by the Scientific Committee you
must also intend to register for the Meeting.
Accepted paper and poster presenters will receive a
NZ$100.00 discount from their registration fee.
On-line submission is the only method of receipt of
abstracts. Abstracts submitted via email or fax
WILL NOT be accepted. If you experience technical

Poster Presentations
The Scientific Committee of the ASUM ASM 2008
strongly encourages authors with research abstracts
to submit them as poster presentations. You will
have the opportunity to present your poster as a
PowerPoint presentation. Posters will be on display
at the Meeting and authors will be allocated a time
to discuss their work.
Electronic Poster Presentations
- Maximum 5 slides per poster presentation, not
including videos or movies.
- Maximum PowerPoint presentation size not to exceed
10mb.
- All electronic presentations should be emailed to

sylvia.ong@workz4u.co.nz by 4.00pm NZ time Monday 15
September 2008.
Please ensure your email subject line is clearly
marked with “ASUM ASM Poster Presentation” and
indicate your Name, Abstract Title and Abstract ID
Reference number as indicated on your abstract
confirmation email.

Ensure you bring a copy of your electronic
presentation on a CD-ROM.
- A number of linked computers will provide access
to all electronic presentations.
Prizes
Papers submitted by registrants are generally
eligible for a range of generous prizes offered by
our sponsors. To be eligible for a poster prize a
presenter must give permission for the content of
the poster to be published in the ASUM Ultrasound
Bulletin. An independent jury of sonographers and
radiologists, grouped according to their expertise,
will judge all scientific exhibits with regard to
originality / educational value / scientific
quality, visual impression and overall assessment.

Presenters must indicate when submitting their paper
if they wish to be considered for a prize. Details
of these prizes will be published in the ASUM
Ultrasound Bulletin.

Guidelines
Abstracts are invited for oral and poster
presentations. If you wish to submit an abstract
for consideration by the Scientific Committee you
must also intend to register for the Meeting.
Please submit your abstract on-line no later than
Friday 16 May 2008.
Authors are requested to study the instructions
below before preparing and submitting their
abstract.
Abstracts are subject to review. Abstract
acceptance, programme scheduling and the form of
presentation will be communicated via email only to
the person who has submitted the abstract.
Abstract Presentation
Abstracts will be approved on their merit and should
be based on previously unpublished data. The
abstract should include objective, methods, results
and conclusions. Only standard abbreviations may be
used.
Abstract submissions MUST include the main
objective(s) of the presentation.
Abstracts submitted for presentation will be
published exactly as submitted. Copy should be
checked for accuracy and misspelling prior to
submission.
Classify your abstract by indicating the Category
that reflects the content of your abstract.
Classification is limited to one Category only.

Confirmation of Receipt of Abstract
Immediately following submission you will receive a
confirmation email of receipt, including your
Abstract Access Key. This access key is to be used
should you wish to edit your abstract up to and no
later than the submission deadline of Friday 16
May 2008. No changes will be possible after
this deadline.
DO NOT send multiple submissions of
the same abstract.
Prepare your abstract as a word document using 10pt
Arial font. Do not indent paragraphs. Do not use
presentation software such as Powerpoint. All abstracts
must be submitted and presented in English. Text
should be entered in upper and lower case.
DO NOT TYPE ABSTRACT TITLES
OR ABSTRACT TEXT ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS.
Please limit your abstract to no more than 250 words
and limit the number of co-authors to no more than
7. Accepted posters should be submitted in portrait
format 90cm x 120cm. Please ensure you bring male
and female velcro hooks to hang your poster.
